It's Been a While But...
We've been busy in Computing. Here are some of the things we have been doing:Digital Heartspace
Work Experience
We have added the opportunity of a work experience week for all students on w/b 22nd April. As from next year this will be week 18.Students are required to find their own placements (with assistance) and send a letter with covering CV.
Work experience is a vital part of your education and gives you the opportunity to demonstrate your skills to a (prospective) employer. From my own personal experience as a manager who has employed work experience students, this is a great opportunity for you all to impress!
We feel up here in computing that you should have as much 'hands on' experience as possible, which brings me to our next point.
PC Clinic
We are launching our in-house repair business, the Computing PC Clinic this week. This will provide a much-needed service and also vital hands-on work experience. Specific details will be announced later.
Drinks Machine
We finally had a drinks machine installed on the 7th floor after a long struggle. I specifically picked one that delivers both hot, cold and soup so please use it or lose it.TV Screen
The TV screen near to the staffroom is in place to be a central point of information. It is currently running a clock with date and time, 3 news feeds (News, Sport and Technology) and a video we use for open evenings. If you would like to see something specific up there then please contact us.Clubs
We launched a 3D Modelling club a few weeks ago on Tuesday lunchtime and will be also getting a games social club going in the next few weeks. There has been call for a games development club which will probably follow shortly. We will also be launching our very own magazine.
